Lord of the Rings Online is a MMORPG. It takes place in the realm of Middle Earth and many of the events from the Lord of the Rings books take place in various situations that your character participates in. You can interact with basically every main character from the books in some way or other.
The main draw point of this game over say, World of Warcraft is that this game is Free to play, you can unlock virtually everything in this game if you are good at grinding. You receive points for every deed, or achievement, you do, which can then be spend to unlock zones, expansions and various other upgrades. This allows a person to play and do the various deeds in each zone and then unlock other zones and things with the points you have earned. The game features skirmishes, which are battles against the forces of Mordor, instances and every other thing you would expect in a MMORPG. You may also play as a minion of the dark lord in a mode in which you PVP against members of allied forces against Mordor, this is the main PVP area and it is primarily for high level players but you may create a minion and play as soon as you log in if you wish. I recommend this game for anyone on a budget that wants to play a massive online role-playing game on the cheap. It is perhaps clunkier than other games like World of Warcraft but it has a charm of its very own and if you are a Tolkien fan then it is something to experience in itself.
