Final Fantasy (1), one of the first graphical RPG games, is the epitome of old school gaming brought to us on the NES. This game is hard, from an era before difficulty levels were a thing you just had to play it and deal with it. In this game you pick four characters from group of six classes and form a party, you can choose any combination of the six, including all white mages if you so wish. The characters are generic in that you name them, they don't have any epic story like the later Final Fantasy games have for their characters.
The warriors of light must restore the power to the drained orbs of light, then defeat the final baddie Garland a.k.a. Chaos and save the world. Sadly that is pretty much all of the story, the characters use a canoe, ship and airship to travel around the world and level up as well as learn a variety of spells to help them on their way. The dungeons which you must enter are full of dangerous creatures that steadily drain you of your power, they are basically a battle of attrition as you can't heal much and have limited spell uses, this is what makes a large part of the game difficulty. There is a remake of this game, which has much better graphics and is more streamlined, so if you are to play this I would recommend that rather than the original version.
I give this game a 4/5 arbitrary nostalgia points. Nintendo did it's job well, this game was what got me hooked on RPGs so it kind of made me who I am today, weird right?
