Bendy and the Ink Machine is a game I had not even heard of until yesterday.  My 5 year old nephew was talking about it and I investigated a bit and found it on Steam. This is a horror/survival type game, which definitely isn't my style at all.

The game starts out as a former cartoonist shows up to pay a visit to his former boss, Joey.  Odd things happen as you investigate the studio, Bendy signs appear and move on their own and various other jump scare type things, which are the lowest form of scares in my opinion.  As you make your way through the building you collect random items which you need to finally manage to activate the mysterious Ink Machine.  Once activated you make your way back to the location of the machine only to be attacked by Bendy?,  I'm not really sure, and are forced to run away back out of the building.  As you are about at the exit the floor collapses, plummeting you deeper into the studio, forcing you to investigate further.  You are in a room full of ink and must drain it to continue using several valves along the way.  Finally you enter a room that looks like a cult ritual has taken place, your character freaks out and end of Chapter 1.  If my description makes it seem super short, that's because it is.  Chapter 1 is free on Steam however, while the next chapters are $5.99 each.  If you are a fan of childish horror type games then this is for you, I didn't find it particularly scary and the "Villain" is a cartoon character so not the most terrifying thing in the world.  I suppose if a 5 year old is into it, it can't be too terrifying, right?

I give Chapter 1 of this game a 3.5/5 arbitrary points.  I am not sure if I will play the rest of this game so I will just leave it at that.  Full of jump scares, which don't really invoke terror, and not much else.

*edit* I originally posted this two years ago, my 5 year old nephew is now 7. :)
